Netflix debuted a streaming television franchise, hit by widespread online protests and online piracy this week amid renewed discussion about rights holders such as Hollywood giants Paramount and Walt Disney. Netflix has faced criticism both for "tour movie magic," featuring some major Hollywood directors including Alan Hough, Mark Millar and David Fincher, and streaming network licensing rights on Netflix in Australia being negotiated on its terms to an existing Hollywood network called The Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS). "A Hollywood distribution company has signed over its intellectual media in that they will hold a very great advantage over many streaming websites," said Kevin Murphy of CRJ Television Media & Broadcast Law.
